Typical applications for aluminium plugs involve plumbing operations, domestic and industrial water, drainage systems, and offshore operations. They are negatively buoyant for subsea work and can be used in all kinds of pipes and materials for leak testing, isolation, sealing, stopping, and even weld purging.

The standard seals on the HFT Pipestoppers® Aluminium Test Plugs and Stoppers are made from natural rubber. Synthetic rubber seals are available for petrochemical applications with greater resistance to various materials.
Each HFT Pipestoppers® Aluminium Drain Test Plug expands to suit a variety of dimensions within its range. Effective sealing is simple: insert the plug into a pipe or other opening and turn the wing nut clockwise. The rubber ring will expand and provide a positive seal. Tightening the wing nuts is simple using friction-free washers.
