Great Barrier for Purging Pipes!

When other purge systems or purge films cannot make a suitable barrier for purging pipes, tubes, or fittings, the Argweld® Weld Purge PlugsĒâ may offer a satisfactory option.
Welding of Alloys and Stainless Steels

For welding of alloys and stainless-steel tubes and pipes, Argweld® Purge PlugsĒâ are available as single units or as kits for typical applications, such as Orbital Welding. When filling complicated pipework systems with inert gas, the Argweld® Purge PlugsĒâ are perfect for sealing all holes and orifices for quality internal purging.

Key Features and Benefits
  • These are made from high-quality nylon up to 152 mm (6") diameter, ensuring they will not rust, corrode, seize, or lock. They are virtually shatter-proof and easily dismantled for cleaning.

A friction-reducing acetal copolymer thrust washer between the top plate and wing nut provides easy expansion and release.

  • Larger size plugs incorporate strengthening ribs in the top and bottom plate design.
  • Standard seals are made from natural rubber, with silicone and nitrile rubber alternatives available.
  • All plugs conform to British Standards BS 8005 for low-pressure testing and sealing of pipes.
Technical Specifications
Leak Tightness:
Hollow shaft plugs (1.5 to 6") have an "O" ring seal around the stem to ensure leak tightness.
Temperature Resistance:
Nylon plugs can be used up to 75ĻŽC (167ĻŽF) continuously and 105ĻŽC (221ĻŽF) intermittently. With high-temperature seals, they can be used continuously up to 120ĻŽC (248ĻŽF).
Sizes Available:

Your Questions Answered
The Weld Purge PlugsĒâ are made from engineering-quality nylon 6.
The Plugs are manufactured in sizes from 0.5Ąą (13 mm) up to 6Ąą (152 mm).
Standard seals are made from natural rubber, with silicone, nitrile, and Viton rubber alternatives available for special applications.
These plugs serve various industrial applications, including leak testing of pipework systems and sealing holes in castings, tanks, and other assemblies.
A pressure chart detailing each plugs withstand is available.
Nylon plugs can be used intermittently up to 120ĒŠC (248ĒŠF), and the natural rubber rings up to 100ĒŠC (212ĒŠF). Continuous use should be restricted to 100ĒŠC (212ĒŠF) for nylon and 80ĒŠC (176ĒŠF) for rubber rings. For higher temperatures, steel or aluminium plugs with silicone rings are available.
Users can extend the range of each plug by a few millimetres using an exterior rubber seal on top of the provided ring.
Depending on pressure and internal surface conditions, plugs can be used as permanent stoppers. The wings can be cropped to prevent tampering.
Sealing rings can be made from different materials, and plugs can be customised with company logos or in specific colours.

lugs are available individually or in kits for immediate delivery.
