Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® have designed and developed Weld Purge Film®, a water-soluble purging barrier for a variety of pipe sizes, which keeps Weld Purging costs low.Titanium, stainless steel and other corrosion resistant materials are widely used for pipework. It is therefore necessary to ensure that a reduction in corrosion resistance does not occur during welding when elements are lost due to oxidation. The joint can be protected against oxidation using a technique called Weld Purging.

Diamond Wheel Tungsten Grinder


Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® now manufacture the TEG-1000 Tungsten Electrode Grinder with a diamond wheel, producing smooth, perfect surface finishes that eliminate arc jumping leading to consistent welds. Diamond Wheel Tungsten Electrode Grinders are recommended for all tungsten electrode grinding. Tungsten is a very hard material and with the diamond wheel being a harder material it makes for a smooth grind.

Welding Cr/Mo/V Steel Pipe Joints


Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® have developed HotPurge®, an Inflatable Tube and Pipe Purging System specifically designed for use where the temperatures may reach as high as 300ºC (572ºF). Chromium/molybdenum/vanadium steels need to be pre-heated prior to welding and also require a post-weld heat-treatment in order to preserve the mechanical properties. These materials can also suffer from loss of elements through oxidation, thus changing alloy balance and affecting mechanical properties. Protection can be provided through the use of specially developed weld purge systems.

Remote Weld Purge Monitoring


For long distance weld purge monitoring, the PurgEye® 1000 enables operators to read the weld purge gas level from a distance for the first time. The exposure to oxygen during the welding process on alloys such as stainless steel will result in discolouration and can severely reduce corrosion resistance properties. It is therefore crucial that the oxygen level is monitored throughout the welding process and kept to a desired level.

Eliminate Porosity During Welding with a Dew Point Sensor


Innovators in Weld Purging Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® have recently developed a Dew Point Sensor, an important predication instrument of when water will form on metal surfaces in the welding environment.The presence of moisture on the joint surface can create porosity in the weld metal. It is therefore important that the dew point is monitored so that welders are made aware when moisture is likely to be present.

Pipe Purging with Water-Soluble Weld Purge Film®

Reliable Oxygen Monitor for Titanium Welding in Aerospace Applications
