In 1975, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® was approached by British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) to provide them with an oxygen analyzer that was more suitable for the welding industry.
Until that time, oxygen monitors were large, expensive and bulky instruments, especially those that would give a reading that would be adequate for joining the new ranges of stainless steels then being developed.
Using the then modern digital technology, HFT® developed the first of a new line of instruments , which led to the birth of the Weld Purge Monitor®.
Early in 2013 after nearly 40 years of updating designs and continuous manufacturing of the Weld Purge Monitor®, the European Economic Community awarded HFT® with the Registration Document, giving the company ownership of the term and name of Weld Purge Monitor®.
The only innovators, designers and developers of a complete range of Weld Purging Products, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques® has developed 8 different models of the original MKI, resulting in today’s advanced version known as the PurgEye® 100 IP65.
In 2017, HFT® overhauled their range of oxygen analyzers to read down to the lowest percentage of oxygen. Most of the monitors in the Range are accurate to 10 parts per million (ppm).
One huge addition to the Range is the revolutionary PurgeNet™, for the in-line connection of additional accessories that allows the Weld Purge Monitor® to control welding systems based upon oxygen level as well as to provide indications of high and low oxygen levels and even give dew point measurements.
Ron Sewell, Chairman for HFT® said: “All of Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®’s Weld Purge Monitors® are manufactured in the UK. We do not sacrifice on quality. We guarantee to help you achieve zero colour welds, time and time again.”
