Flow Stopping, Blocking and Pipe Weld Purging with Pipestoppers®
Flow stopping and blocking in order to carry out routine
maintenance, repair work or even for weld purging is easy with the products
from the Pipestoppers® Division of Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®.
The Pipestoppers® Division design and manufacture ranges of Mechanical and Inflatable Pipestoppers® as well as Pipe Plugs to suit every diameter and application, including flow stopping, blocking and pipe weld purging.
Typical applications for Mechanical Stoppers and Plugs include industrial as well as domestic plumbing operations, water drainage systems as well as offshore operations. They are negatively buoyant for sub-sea work and can be used in all kinds of pipes and other materials where there are orifices to be sealed or blocked.
Mechanical Stoppers :
Nylon Plugs, mostly used for leak testing of pipework fabrications or to keep unwanted material out. These robust and highly popular light weight plugs are manufactured for pipe internal diameters from 0.5 to 6” (12 to 150 mm).
Aluminium Plugs for heavy-duty applications and immersion in chemicals and/or exposure to higher temperatures and are manufactured for pipe diameters up to 36” (900 mm).
Steel Plugs that are used for low pressure testing and plugging of all pipes up to 48” (1,200 mm) are available in single or double formats, with the double plugs being able to support higher pressures and to provide better sealing.
Inflatable Stoppers:
Cylindrical and Spherical shapes manufactured
for pipes and ducts provide an easy way to stop the flow of gas or liquid and
are available up to 96”diameter. For higher temperatures, these Inflatable
Stoppers can also be manufactured with Heat Resistant Covers.
PetroChem™ Stoppers are used for stopping off
pipes with hydrocarbon gases and liquids inside.
Low Profile Stoppers are available for
applications where insufficient length of pipe is available for the regular
Cylindrical or Spherical Stopper.
Inflatable Rubber Plugs for heavy-duty
applications where pipes might contain liquids and gases that usual Inflatable
Stoppers are not resistant to and for greater sealing pressures than the above
mentioned versions.
Pipe Freezing Systems:
Often, repairs need to be carried out on pipes containing
liquids where draining the system might be the only option.
With Accu-Freeze™ and Qwik-Freezer™ Systems it is possible to freeze stationary liquids in a selected section of pipe or tubing, allowing repairs and modifications to be made without draining or shutting off complete systems.
