MultiStrike Tungsten Electrodes are designed to address the growing concerns about the radio-toxic thoria that is present in standard red tipped tungsten electrodes, MultiStrike's are non radio-toxic, non-thoriated and non-carcinogenic.
They will strike 10 times more arcs than red tipped thoriated tungstens, when tested under identical conditions. They are suitable for a wide variety of welding operations, particularly effective in the welding of titanium, stainless steel and aluminium AC and DC.
Eliminate the thoriated dust in the atmosphere by changing to MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes so that when there is tungsten grinding dust, it is not radiotoxic.
MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes provide savings
through longer life, more strikes per electrode before grinding, less re-work,
less wastage and lower power requirements.
Here are some of our frequently asked questions.
Q. We see and hear that there are other thoria-free ‘ecological’ tungstens available at lower prices than MultiStrikes®?
A. When buying MultiStrike®, you are purchasing a consistent, guaranteed, reliable, traceable product which will not vary and let you down in production. Many cheaper types of tungsten electrodes may have unreliable sources.
Q. What colour tips does MultiStrike have?
A. The MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes tip colour is known as ‘House Blue’, immediately distinguishable from any other tungsten and is part of the Trademark of Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®.
Q. What is in MultiStrike® Tungstens Electrodes to make them so good?
A. MultiStrike® Tungstens contain a blend of rare earth dopants to replace thoria. Our dopants are not radio-toxic and they are mixed in accurate proportions using statistical proportional control procedures, fully computerised to ensure that the tungstens are made to the same high standards every time.
Q. Will you tell me what materials you use inside MultiStrike® Tungstens Electrodes?
A. The exact ingredients of MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes are part of our intellectual property gained by extensive research and development to bring a quality product to the market place that is totally traceable, reliable and repeatable.
Q. Can MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes be used to weld aluminium with AC welding?
A. Yes, MultiStrike® Tungstens are used widely and successfully for welding aluminium.
Q. I’m worried about the dust generated when I grind MultiStrike® Tungsten Electrodes.
A. Because MultiStrike®'s do not contain thoria or any other radiotoxic materials, the dust generated is not carcinogenic. However, any local health and safety standards about the generation and collection of dust should be observed.
