Burry Port's Nigel Powell receives the plate from Wyndham Morgan

Nigel Powell and Wyndham MorganEdited
HFT® sponsored Burry Port Rugby Football Club picked up two trophies at the annual Llanelli District Rugby Union's presentation evening at Pontyates.

Second-team captain Nigel Powell received the Doreen Rogers Cup from Llanelli District President Anthony John after his side scored the most points in the league.

Powell was back on his feet minutes later when he was presented with the Morgan Finance Millennium Plate by Wyndham Morgan which Burry Port won in a closely fought final at Pontyberem Park.

The match ended in a 20-20 draw, with Burry Port the winners on try count.

"It is the end of an era as far as District rugby is concerned as this will be the last Plate final sponsored by Wyndham Morgan of Morgan Finance" said District Chairman, Anthony Roberts.

"Wyndham has been a great supporter of local rugby over many years and this season is no different but due to ill health, he has decided to retire from business.

"We extend our very best wishes to Wyndham and his wife Millie."
