Sam Collins, a young Burry Port father, credited Burry Port RFC with embracing his family and changing their lives for the better.
He spoke highly of the team, which is currently raising funds for the side's first annual tour this year.
The 32-year-old and his fiancé Jenny, who moved to the town in 2012 with their children Alesha, eight, and Aaron, 11, said it had been hugely beneficial for them all.
Sam, who is a prop for the side, related that after moving, he got involved with the rugby club straight away and it has been absolutely brilliant for our family and has helped us to make friends. We really feel like a part of the community, he said
Sam’s children are now also playing for the club. His daughter plays for the Under 9s team, while his son plays for the Under 11s.
This Wednesday, February 26 the Club had its Worthington Wednesday fundraising night.
Sporting experts including former Wales captain and Ospreys player Ryan Jones and Scrum V presenter Rick O'Shea were guest speakers on the night at the Memorial Hall.
The evening helped to raise funds for the side's first annual rugby tour this year.
